where it
all began

Thistle Ridge really began in 2020 when I coordinated my first wedding for a family at my church. The wedding was just a few days away and I had just gotten married so I figured I could help them out. The wedding went well and over the years this business slowly grew through word of mouth.

In late 2024 I started thinking about taking this business more seriously and dedicating more time to it. At that point I brainstormed business names and eventually pursued logo designs, website building, and business planning.

About

Thistle Ridge

The mountains are dear to me so I began exploring mountain related words in hopes that one would speak to me. A ridge is a long, narrow portion of land that often joins two mountains. The imagery of two mountains struck me related to weddings because they join two people (and families) forever. This deep meaning is exactly what I wanted in a business name. I sat on that one word, ridge, for over a year racking my brain and going through my daily life always searching for a word to pair it with.

I finally had the thought to reflect on my own wedding for the other word. I love flowers and swooned (still do!) over my bouquet! The red amarantha draping down and the tall, bold blue thistle stood out amongst white roses and eucalyptus, my favorite greenery. While the amarantha is beautiful, the word didn’t stick out to me (pun intended!) like thistle did. And thus, I had a name - Thistle Ridge!

I am originally from Greensboro, NC and moved to Boone to attend App State in 2014. I have loved this community ever since! I met Anthony, my amazing husband (the love of my life, fixer of almost anything, and biggest cheerleader), while in college and we married in January 2020. We have two sweet kiddos, Hudson and Sadie, who add so much love, chaos, and fun to our lives. In many ways, my family is my dream come true and I’m so thankful that God blessed me with them.

As a family, we are deeply committed to God and our church, Alliance Bible Fellowship. We volunteer in multiple ways and have been blessed to grow in our love for Jesus there. God comes first in our lives and we strive to base all we do on biblical principles. God has led me to this business over the years and everything you see at Thistle Ridge flows from God’s grace and kindness in my life.
